How to build your own solar battery for electric vehicles

In the coming weeks, the solar industry will look to its battery tech to compete with the batteries of the electric car and smart home companies.

But one company’s solar battery could be even better than the others.

Solar battery maker SolarCity is working with a small group of partners to develop a new type of battery that could provide an alternative to conventional lithium-ion batteries.

The company says it will be able to manufacture a battery that can store electricity produced from renewable energy sources.
