A new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll finds that Republicans are far more likely to consider a primary opponent than Democrats are.
The poll found that 41 percent of GOP lawmakers who responded would consider a Democratic challenger against them in a general election.
The top three Republican candidates for the nomination were Sens.
Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R,UT) and John McCain (R.,AZ).
Sen. Rand Paul (R.-KY) was the only other GOP candidate polled.
The poll of 2,012 registered voters was conducted April 24-27.
It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
